對付混沌艦隊的時候帝國的最大優勢區間就是新星砲打的到但混沌的光矛無法還擊的這個距離，然後渾沌艦隊會全速衝過來拉到自己光矛的射程內但帝國光矛打不到的距離，雙方開始互相丟魚雷一邊逼近最後就是艦載機互炸宏砲對轟的肉搏戰

一個典型的交戰場景:
不屈遠征第三艦隊與混沌艦隊交戰，在雙方都發現對方的情況下帝國艦隊先用新星砲給對面洗臉，新星砲在太空戰中除了超長射程之外幾乎是發射就擊中，沒被爆炸炸死的會被emp癱瘓，如果被砲彈直擊還會被秒殺
缺點就是搭載新星砲的船相對於整個艦隊的數量來說很少，整個第三艦隊也只有十二艘船帶了新星砲

不過打到中後期都是一排新星砲招待 第一輪沒有打爆就是風箏到新星砲CD結束再補第二輪

在40K上萬公里的交戰範圍而言這很有效，在這種距離下砲彈偏個0.幾度都會打不中
我們平常低軌衛星才幾百公里的距離，你地面天線打無線電波差1度都會收不到訊號
