Visakhapatnam: The defence ministry has decided to sell as scrap INS Viraat, the oldest aircraft carrier in the world.
After serving for almost six decades in two navies - as HMS Hermes in the British Royal Navy for 30 years and later in the Indian Navy, the ship was decommissioned in 2017.
It will meet the fate of INS Vikrant, which was also sold as scrap, with metal from the ship being used in motorbikes.
