伊朗局勢持續緊張，但在中東執勤的“林肯”號航母卻掉了一點鏈子。8月早些時候，一架E-2D預警機在著艦時撞壞了4架F/A-18戰鬥機，事故最終導致5架飛機受損。

E-2D是美國航母打擊大隊重要的指揮預警節點，此次事故會對美國海軍在中東的任務能力造成一定的影響。

據美國來源與方法8月20日報道，美國海軍安全中心稱，在本月的早些時候，一架美國海軍的E-2D“先進鷹眼”艦載預警機在阿拉伯海著艦時，在航母甲板上撞上了兩架F/A-18“超級大黃蜂”戰鬥機，另外還有兩架F/A-18戰機也被飛濺的碎片波及。

報道稱，這架艦載預警機于晚間7點40分返回航母，美國第五艦隊發言人喬希·弗雷海軍中校在一份郵件中表示，這架預警機在著艦時撞到了兩架艦載戰鬥機，撞擊碎片造成另外兩架戰鬥機受損。弗雷說：“這架預警機隨後改變航線，安全的降落在另一處地方，此次事故沒有造成人員受傷。”但出于保密需要，他不能提供預警機備降地點的信息。

美國海軍安全中心新的一份報告稱，這是一起“斷裂”（Bolter）事故，這意味著E-2D預警機在著艦時沒有勾住攔阻索。

美國海軍將此次事故分為“A”級事故，美軍將事故分為A、B、C三級。“C”級事故涉及5萬到50萬美元的損失，相關軍事人員輕傷。“B”級事故涉及50萬到200萬美元的損失，造成一人永久或部分殘疾，或致3人輕傷。“A”級事故涉及200萬美元以上的損失、軍機損毀和一人永久殘疾或死亡。

不過美國海軍表示，這次損失是“輕微”的。弗雷中校表示，受損的戰機正在進行維修，事故中的戰機只是受到輕微損壞，會盡快恢複執行作戰任務的能力。”

Specialists have analyzed and studied the data contained in the flight recorder ("black box”) of the MiG-29 fighter jet of the Air Force of Azerbaijan, which crashed during scheduled night training flights conducted on July 24 at around 22:00 local time and other technical documents regarding the flight, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry said.

A study of the causes of the air accident also showed that the aircraft collided with a foreign body (bird or flock of birds) in the air before it fell into the Caspian Sea, as a result of which the pilot was injured.
According to data obtained from the "black box”, the pilot tried to regain control of the aircraft to avoid an accident.
