Jap War Criminal Kills Self in Cell

SHANGHAI, CHINA

Can Gen. Rikichi Ando, wartime Japanese governor of Formosa and commanding general of Japanese troops on the island, swallowed poison in his jail cell here at midnight Friday and died in agony within a few minutes.
Ando, his chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Hakusl Isayama, and 15 other Japanese had been brought to Shanghai Monday from Taihoku, Japan, for trial in connection with atrocities committed against Americans, British and Chinese em Formosa.

Japanese Cook Wears New Look For 'Super' Pilot

TOKIO, Feb. 19.- --W-- A Japanese in a United States army uniform--decorated like a Christmas tree -- stepped grandly off a train today.
He had startled fellow passengers with tales of weird flights in '罈 rocket ship at the Kanoya air base.
He was, he said with an elegant flourish, Captain Robert Jones - the army's most daring test pilot.
He was dressed for the part.
Loops of gold braid adorned both shoulders.
Air force service patches blossomed on his sleeves.
Two rows of vari colored ribbons illuminated his chest.
Upon his jaunty cap were two circles of officer's braid and silver bars.
But a United States army chaplain, A.D. Mann, lifted an eyebrow, and telephoned ahead.
Awaiting the super pilot's triumphant arrival were two frowning MPs.
They booked him for impersonating an officer.
The rocket pilot extraordinarj admitted then he was Takeshi Takeshima--just an unemployed cooks helper from the Itami Air Base, near Osaka.

松山空襲

松山空襲發生於中國抗日戰爭期間，為中華民國首度對台灣轟炸的事件，也是日本所面臨到的第一次領土被轟炸事件。空襲時間自1938年2月23日早上11點5分開始至當日下午3點42分，行動內容即是對日屬臺灣松山飛行場實施的空中攻擊，選在這天發動攻擊是因為這天是蘇聯紅軍節。由蘇聯航空志願隊以中華民國空軍名義執行，並且在蘇聯飛機上，都漆上代表中華民國空軍的青天白日徽

Crew foils Taipei [sic] hijack

TAIPEI (AP) The crew of a U.S. military aerial refueling plane overpowered and disarmed a young Chinese who apparently was attempting to hijack their jet today, a U.S. spokesman said.
The 17-year-old boy, who was carrying a shotgun, penetrated security patrols at Tainan Air Base near Tainan City in southern Taiwan.
He boarded the KC-135 refueling tanker in darkness this morning, the spokesman said.
He was turned over to Chinese authorities, the spoksman added.

Pilot of New Jet Plane Is Warmed by Engine

Schenectady, March 28 (JP) - The pilot of the new army air forces Lockheed P-80 propellerless fighter plane sits in relative comfort, even in subzero temperatures, without heavy clothing, as the most powerful jet aircraft engine in the world warms his pressurized cabin.
General Electric Co, officials disclosed yesterday that warm air flpws from the impeller-compressor of the jet engine into the enclosed cabin, where "pressurization" enables the pilot to breathe normally at altitudes of six miles and more without an oxygen mask.

與美國合作的P2V-7偵察任務

我方以P2V-7執行時，每損失一架飛機，美軍會立刻補充一架新機。
據我所知，任務期間我方共損失5架P2V-7飛機，亦即同時失去70餘位空軍弟兄的寶貴性命。

在空中面臨敵機緊追不捨之下，飛行員通常會將飛機往上拉高，發動機的排氣管在夜空中發出耀眼火焰，正好成為共軍攻擊鎖定的最佳目標，因此當時我關閉飛機油門，降低飛航高度並停止電子干擾，雖是相當冒險的動作，但不僅可以避免暴露自己的位置，也使地面村莊的燈火顯得格外明亮，我判斷村莊應該是安全的地方，於是迅速貼著山溝向村莊飛下去，並幸賴我機全體機組人員合作無間，藉著彼此高度的默契與信任，使我們得以險中求勝，化險為夷。
