米政府は９月にも自衛隊向け初号機を日本に引き渡す見通しです。
このままでは、墜落のリスクを抱えたまま、自衛隊への導入と米海兵隊普天間基地（沖縄県宜野湾市）所属のオスプレイの運用が続くことになります。

２０１５年５月にハワイでＭＶ２２が砂（さ）塵（じん）に巻き込まれてエンジン内に異物を吸い込んで墜落、乗組員２人が死亡しました。
米海兵隊は「操縦士の判断ミス」と結論づけた上で「エンジン・フィルター・システムの改良」を提言しました。

US Marines Osprey crashes off Australia's Queensland coast

The incident involved an MV-22 Osprey belonging to the US Marines based in Okinawa, Japan.

The third Marine Expeditionary Force said the aircraft had launched for "regularly scheduled operations" before it entered the water.

Rescue teams recovered 23 people, but three service members are still missing.

Australian media reported the incident happened during an attempt to land on an aircraft carrier.

Navy finds wreckage of downed US military aircraft off Queensland coast

The Australian Navy has located a missing US military aircraft that crashed in waters off the Queensland coast, killing three Marines.

The HMAS Melville arrived in Shoalwater Bay, near Rockhampton, overnight to join a recovery operation after the tilt-rotor MV-22 Osprey plunged into the sea during a scheduled military exercise on Saturday.
