達美航空（Delta Air Lines）編號9771航班當天自喬治亞州亞特蘭大巿起飛，飛行3小時33分鐘後，在亞歷桑納州瑪拉納巿（Marana）巿降落。
這是達美16架波音747廣體客機機隊中，最後一架飛往沙漠退役的客機。

此前，達美與聯合航空（United Airlines）的波音747客機，已先後飛行最後一架國際航班、最後一架國內航班。
3日是它正式在美國走入歷史。
不過仍有航空公司繼續飛行波音747貨機。
