Leuprecht noted how Lam only stood up after carefully observing the suspect and determining he didn’t have a gun.

Leuprecht said Lam seemed to go further than some others might have when he decided to approach and arrest the suspect, rather than wait for backup.

“I think that goes above and beyond the call of duty. He could have had a knife. He could have had a suicide belt.”

However, the university professor, who is currently teaching in Australia, says if the constable had waited for backup, the situation might have escalated and had a different outcome.

“The opportunity to ensure the individual could no longer pose a chance of harm to himself or to others is what that officer jumped at,” said Leuprecht.

邱彰認為孫安佐與父母團圓路不遠

藝人孫鵬、狄鶯之子孫安佐因涉嫌恐嚇威脅昨（25）晚他出席聽證會，律師跟檢察官認罪協商的結果，讓他適用賓州的「加速復原處置」Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition （ARD），有機會可以全身而退。
在美國際律師邱彰，對此事也是表達樂觀態度，直言「ARD結束後，孫安佐將沒有任何犯罪記錄了，可以重新作人。況且孫安佐既然沒有美國簽證了，回家是個不錯的選擇吧」。

The post began circulating on social media shortly after a rented van drove into pedestrians on Yonge St. Monday, killing 10 people and leaving 14 injured.

The cryptic numbers in the Facebook post attributed to Alek Minassian - C23249161 - are the same as his service number with the Canadian military, a defence department source confirmed to the Star Wednesday.

Minassian was in the Canadian Armed Forces between Aug. 23 and Oct. 25, 2017 and did just 16 days of recruit training before he voluntarily withdrew.
